For Congressional Democrats it's Time to Panic

It has been obvious for some time now that the American people are NOT particularly thrilled with the way the Dem's are running Congress these days.
However, they didn't think that they would do anything desperate and take them out of power. "We'll fight through this" they said. Indeed.
It would appear now however, that that which they feared the most is about to happen. Many prominent Dem's can see the storm clouds gathering in the distance.
As reported in Politico this week:
Charlie Cook, one of the best political handicappers in the business, sent out a special update to Cook Political Report subscribers Thursday that should send shivers down Democratic spines.
Reviewing recent polling and the 2010 election landscape, Cook can envision a scenario in which Democratic House losses could exceed 20 seats.
"These data confirm anecdotal evidence, and our own view, that the situation this summer has slipped completely out of control for President Obama and Congressional Democrats. Today, The Cook Political Report’s Congressional election model, based on individual races, is pointing toward a net Democratic loss of between six and 12 seats, but our sense, factoring in macro-political dynamics is that this is far too low," he wrote.
"Many veteran Congressional election watchers, including Democratic ones, report an eerie sense of déjà vu, with a consensus forming that the chances of Democratic losses going higher than 20 seats is just as good as the chances of Democratic losses going lower than 20 seats."
Cook scrupulously avoided any mention that Democratic control of the House is in jeopardy but, noting a new Gallup poll showing Congress’ job disapproval at 70 percent among independents, concluded that the post-recess environment could feel considerably different than when Congress left in August.
"We believe it would be a mistake to underestimate the impact that this mood will have on Members of Congress of both parties when they return to Washington in September, if it persists through the end of the Congressional recess."
And then there are the anti-Obama Administration columns that are beginning to be written by .....once Obama supporters:
Obama's Enforcer: Not Really Tough Enough, Joe Conason
U.S. Economy: Time for a Real Jobs Stimulus?, Kevin O'Leary Time
Mixed Signals on the Public Option, Paul Krugman NYT
Rasmussen Reports from Thursday, August 18th reported:
Republican candidates have now matched their biggest lead over Democrats of the past several years on the Generic Congressional Ballot.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 43% would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate while 38% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent.
Democrats held a six- or seven-point lead on the ballot for the first few weeks of 2009. That began to slip in early February, and from mid-April through June the two parties were roughly even. Republicans have held a lead on the ballot since the last week in June, the first time they'd been on top in well over a year.
For the second time in three weeks, women favor Republicans slightly more than Democrats, 41% to 39%. Men prefer the GOP by a 45% to 36% margin this week.
And finally this:
When asked the qustion if the country was headed in the right direction or was on the wrong track the respondents overwhelmingly felt that we were headed on the wrong track:
Poll Date Right Direction Wrong Track
ABC News/WP 8/13-8/17 44 55
Pew 8/11-8/17 28 65
Rasmussen 8/10-8/16 34 61
DailyKos/R20008/10-8/13 42 53
All of this data taken together does not bode well for the Democrats.
If they plan to stay in power it would behoove them to listen to these numbers, who represent LIKELY voters, and do as they wish.
Otherwise, come November of 2010 we'll all be talking about how the GOP won back control of Congress and how badly the Dem's were beaten.

The Amazing Race

It happened so suddenly that most of you probably didn't see it. I noticed it immediately because I have been watching so closely.
It's what's known in politics as a momentum shift and a big one is taking place now. Until a few weeks ago Obama was gliding along at a steady pace. He was keeping to his plan and was still acting like "Mr Cool".
However, in the last 2-3 weeks he has picked up speed considerably. The question is why?
Easy. His policies are starting to take hold and the results of those policies are starting to become apparent.
I've said all along that Obama had a "window" of opportunity that he would need to exploit but that it would not last long. I have to admit that the "window" deteriorated much quicker than I thought it would.
I had originally given him about 18 months before we would start feeling the effects of his policies and people would begin to turn on him. It took less than 6 months.
Now, he is in danger and he knows it. In fact, he is so aware of his declining support that he is now starting to get stupid and he is starting to get sloppy.
He is acting like a cornered dog who is ready to bite. His biggest test will come very soon with the Healthcare Bill now being debated in Congress.
Apparently, this plan is SO radical that even the Democrats are starting to back away from it.
Obama is so afraid that he won't get this thing passed that he is trying to ramrod it through Congress without debate. It was introduced on Tuesday and he wanted it to be voted on by Thursday. So much for his promise of 72 hours to let the American People review the plan.
Some reports are now claiming that he is concerned that this will be a referendum on the rest of his policies. If he loses this, it's over.
For those who have actually READ the bill, the startling truth of what this will do to Americans is causing quite a few to give pause.
The fact is American's WANT healthcare to be cheaper and they want it to be fixed. However they do NOT want it to be socialized and run by the government.
This is a pivotal time in Obama's Presidency. He could very well be setting himself up for another Republican Revolution in Congress.
While the American People are still trusting of Mr Obama, as indicated by his high personal approval ratings, they are NOT however, so enamored of his policies as the most recent polls now show.
So the race is on. Obama's "window" is quickly closing and the momentum is shifting. It may not be towards the GOP at this point but one thing is very clear: it's away from the Democrats.
Next year is a Congressional Election year and don't think Congress doesn't know that. They have much at stake. The GOP has nothing to lose, it HAS nothing now. However, the Democrats CRAVE power and do not want to lose it.
My prediction is that this Healthcare Bill will either stall and go nowhere or it will indeed be passed after it's been so watered-down that it won't matter anyway.
Obama can almost see the Finish Line up ahead but the "pack" is quickly catching him and he is running out of steam.
Who will ultimately win this race? Hard to tell at this point but it just might come down to a photo finish. Stay tuned.

STILL...a house divided.

Well now that the election is over the gloating has begun and the so-called bipartisan spirit has been thrown to the winds. In less than 48 hours the Dems have simultaneously preached that there will be a new 'spirit of bipartisanship" inside the Government and have taken action to punish one of their own for "crossing the line". Who is in the cross hairs this time? Senator Joe Lieberman of CT. Never mind the fact that he is an Independent because his "friends" in the Democratic Party tried to oust him the last election by supporting a nobody who ran against him. The PEOPLE of CT re-elected Lieberman but that doesn't mean anything to the Dems. He crossed the line and stepped on their toes. He also backed John McCain, his longtime friend, rather than join the other "sheep" who lined up to coronate "the One". The Senate Majority Leader (that is so hard to say) has started to apply pressure to Lieberman and will probably strip him of his Committee Chairmanship. It's payback time, Joey!

For his part, the One also has signaled that her plans to play hardball in the next 4 years as well. He chose for his Chief of Staff a former Clintonista Rahm Emanuel who is know as a political pit bull. This man will pull no punches and expect a very tightly run ship when it comes to White House Staff. We should also expect to hear numerous talking points and spin and the truth will be a hard thing to find in the new administration. Emanuel will see to it that the hard left is appeased and that they are paid back for getting the One in the White House. He will direct the media and they will take his direction. Astonishingly, some in the MSM have already signaled that they are on board with this plan even before it's been announced. Chris "I felt a thrill go up my leg" Matthews vowed last night to "do whatever i can to make this President successful". What? I thought he was a journalist. Well, OK, we all know that he stopped being a TRUE journalist years ago and is no nothing more than a mouthpiece for the Dems. What is amazing is that he feels that he can say this openly and there will be no repercussions. The sad fact is he's probably right. The American People have already told pollsters that they believe the MSM had a stake in helping to get the One elected. They know the truth now. I believe the MSM feels that since the people knew this and STILL voted for the One then they are off the hook and they can do whatever please at this point. If a country no longer has a free press, that country is no longer free. Welcome to ObamaNation.

Now comes the reckoning. The Dems, feeling empowered will move quickly to lurch the country to the left and will ramrod legislation through the Congress that at least HALF of America does not support. They will claim that they have received a mandate from the people and they will let loose the dogs. Look for investigations and possible impeachment hearings to start soon. This election was not about hope or change. It was about REVENGE. Revenge for Florida 2000, revenge for Gitmo, revenge for the Iraq War, revenge, revenge, revenge. There will be no bipartisanship until the punishment is over. Even then it will be a form of bipartisanship that will heavily favor the Dems. Lincoln said: "A nation divided cannot stand". Believe it.

The wave is coming...

I am going to make a bold prediction: John McCain is going to win on Tuesday and he is going to win BIG! Are you delusional? No. This is based on facts and conditions that I have seen and experienced while working closely with the McCain Campaign in the last few weeks. I believe there is an impending wave of support from a silent majority out there that will soon have it's voice heard. Let me explain what I mean.

First: Oversampling and assumptions by the pollsters: More than any other campaign in history this election has been very challenging for the pollsters. The main reason for this is according to reports up to 80% of respondents are refusing to tell them who they are voting for! Pollsters are having a very tough time getting people to share with them. The reason is the whole "cult of personality" that has been created around Obama and also the "racist" tag that is being applied to anyone who is NOT voting for Obama. People don't want to be labeled a racist and they also don't want to be known as the people that didn't vote for "the Messiah". The fact that Obama would be the first black President is a major consideration with some voters.

Second: Don't underestimate the angry Democrat vote out there. I have met more Democrats in the last months that are extremely angry with what happened to Hillary Clinton and the way that the Obama Campaign treated her than I can recall in recent memory. They are in very heavy numbers planning to vote for McCain. They know that if McCain gets in Hillary can run in 2012. However, if Obama gets in she would need to wait until 2016 and she would be much older by then. I also believe that the Clinton Machine is working behind the scenes to ensure that Obama does not control the Democratic Party in the future which he would if he wins.

Third: Momentum. Simply put, Presidential Campaigns live and die on momentum; the Big MO'! In the past 2 weeks John McCain has surged more than 10 points or more in some of the key Battleground States and the Mo' continues to this day. In contrast, Obama has been hemorrhaging votes and is now fighting to hold onto territory that he thought he had won: Virginia, Missouri, Florida, Ohio. Couple this with the fact that historically Obama is not a great closer and you have the makings of an historical comeback by John McCain. And remember, the polls are skewed due to the 80% non-responsive voters. The lead in these polls could be bigger, much bigger than is being reported now.

Fourth: The nervous media. There has never been a Presidential Campaign that has seen an utter lack of objectivity from the Main Stream Media (MSM) than this one has. Even the latest research shows that the MSM has overwhelmingly gone out of it's way to ensure that Obama has the more positive coverage and that McCain has the more negative coverage. (See the following study: http://www.cmpa.com/media_room_press_8.htm). But the interesting thing that I have seen (that now has been documented) is that virtually ALL MSM media outlets have begun to call the election for Obama in the last few weeks even though people are engaging in early voting as we speak! The main reason behind this strategy is to suppress the vote and make Republican voters depressed and dispirited. They will think that Obama is going to win in a landslide anyway so there is really no reason for them to take the time to vote. In other words: it's a forgone conclusion that Obama is going to win. This is not the first time this strategy has been used however. In the 2000 Presidential Election the MSM called Florida for Al Gore BEFORE the people in the Florida Panhandle, historically Republican-leaning territory, had a chance to get to the polls. By some studies this caused some 50-80,000 voters to stay home and not go to the polls. Florida was won by just 367 votes! The media did their best to help Al Gore and they got caught. Thankfully, the state eventually went to Bush after the Supreme Court intervened. The MSM this time around however is "all in" to use a poker term and they have bet the house that they can pull this off. However, if you start to read between the lines, they are starting to doubt that they have done all they can do and as the research shows the American People have see right through their scheme.

Fifth: The Independent vote: Historically when things are bad people choose the "sure thing" rather than roll the dice on the unknown. With the uncertainty and volatility that exists in the world these days people are looking for their "baby blanket" to make them feel safe. John McCain is that blanket. (Now that's a visual) They KNOW McCain, they trust McCain, they have witnessed his record over decades and they know that he will not take us off a cliff while the world is searching for answers. He might not be an exciting candidate but he is the "sure thing" this time around. They know that out of the two he will do LESS damage if things go awry.

Finally: Obama has failed to close the deal. If the American People really thought that things were so bad that they needed to drastically change things then why hasn't Obama put this thing away? He should be 20 points of more ahead in the polls and yet he is more like 2 or 3 or 5 points ahead. That does not bode well for him as it suggests that there is a large segment of people out there that still don't trust him and are reluctant to swing in his direction. As I said before he is a bad closer and it shows. The truth is people have second thoughts about this guy and they don't think he is the best choice at a time of such uncertainty in the world. They understand that he will have many more chances to run again and this will give them time to get to know him a bit. For now he is an unknown commodity and it makes people nervous. This, I believe will show, come November 4th.

Extreme Makeover-The America Edition

No, this is not the TV show but rather a look into the future as to what America would look like under a President Obama. I am only going to use his proposals as outlined to demonstrate how radical this man will be.

First, he will destroy the economy. By raising capital gains tax he'll cause people to move their investments out of the stock market. By raising the corporate tax he'll cause American businesses to go elsewhere as set up shop overseas. (China has offered American companies the ability to operate in their country tax free). By taxing the oil companies he will cause them to pass on the expenses of doing business to us and we will pay even MORE at the pump than we do now! We can all afford that right? Lastly, he will cause 1% of the people in America who DO pay taxes to pick up the tab for 80% of people who don't. Thereby stoking the fires of class envy and increasing the animosity between the haves and the have-nots. That should being us closer together huh?

Second, he will weaken us militarily. He has proposed to STOP all further research and development of our nuclear weapons program here in the US. At a time when you have Iran, Russia, Pakistan, N Korea and others starting to flex their nuclear muscles he would have us fold our hand and walk away from the table. He thinks this will being our enemies to see us as a more peaceful nation. The fact is they will see us as weaker and more vulnerable. Does anyone think for one minute that if the rest of the world could bankrupt and conquer the US they wouldn't? President Reagan had it correct: Peace through superior firepower! This is what bankrupted the Soviet Union and ultimately led to the demise of the Cold War. The world is far to dangerous a place to just start "trusting" these aggressive governments and "hope" they will just play nice. Once again, this shows Obama's naivety.

Thirdly, he will make us more vulnerable to another terrorist attack. Obama has stated that he plans to go on a worldwide "apology tour" and tell the world that we were wrong for going to Iraq and from now on we plan to talk more and fight less. Ahhhh, such a beautiful thought. However, this just goes to show his ignorance of the enemy we fight. Arabs see non-aggression as weakness. If you say your sorry once you've attacked them it emboldens them to hit you harder the next time. The only thing the jihadists understand is force. They KNOW that John McCain will not tolerate any attack on the US or it's interests and they will pay a heavy price if they choose to do so. They also perceive the Obama is weak on this issue and that is exactly why they have endorsed him for President. That alone speaks volumes!!

Fourthly, he will change this country and it's values in a way that will be hard to turn around in a generation. He will appoint liberal, activist judges that will wreak havoc throughout our entire legal system. If you are a person of faith you should be especially nervous as he will allow them to limit your religious rights and will in effect put a muzzle on pastors and priests who speak the truth of God's Word. If you speak out about homosexuality you will be fined or imprisoned. If you speak out about abortion the same will happen. The "progressive" values will take the place of the Judeo-Christian values that shaped this nation and we will become a godless society.

Fifth, he will turn this country into a socialist, European-like state. Is it any wonder that the Europeans love Obama? He is ONE of them! They have lived under socialism for so long they don't even know they don't have any freedom anymore. America is the last bastion of TRUE freedom that exists on the face of this planet and that is why so many people long to come here every year. Once Obama enacts his economic plan and the people have lived under it for a few years they will learn to accept it and we will have crossed the line. More and more people will depend on the government for all of their needs and they will slowly become dependent. Is this what we want for our country? To have to depend on our government for EVERYTHING from cradle to grave? What happens when the government decides that you no longer need something and decides to do away with it? How will you feel then?

There are many other proposals of Obama's that I could go into but quite frankly isn't this enough? We stand on the precipice of history and we have a decision to make. Do we turn back this radical agenda and save our country for future generations? Or do we take the step over the side and free-fall into the future? When we land it will hurt. If you haven't done anything to stop this wave of lunacy from taking place then you need to. If you have then I and an entire nation of God-fearing, patriotic, freedom-loving citizens owe you a debt of gratitude and thanks. Keep up the fight until the fight is won!!! THIS IS NOT OVER!!!

The eggs are ready to hatch!

I am writing this post somewhat bewildered as I sit and watch Obama surging in the polls. I can't figure out how people can be so duped by this "empty suit". He has no executive experience and from the time that he was elected as a U.S. Senator until the time he started running for President was approximately 143 days. That's less than 6 months of experience in Washington, D.C. Now I'm not saying that you have to have Washington experience to qualify for election to the highest office in the land. On the contrary, I think the LESS "inside the Beltway" experience you have the better. However, in light of the fact that Obama has NO executive level experience to speak of it may have done him some good to get some Washington time under his belt. This argument however does not seem to phase the "disciples" and they are pressing ahead blindly ready to crown him just the same. It is interesting to note though that the same people are aghast at the utter lack (their opinion, not mine) of experience that Sarah Palin brings to the table to be...VP. I know, I don't get it either. Either they are seriously blinded by the "masterful oratory" of the Obamessiah or they are just plain stupid. You be the judge. In any event, Obama is surging in the polls and that is largely due to two key factors: the economy and the youth vote. Let's take these one at a time and see why each one is having the effect that it is.

First, the economy. The polls have moved in Obama's favor ever since the "crisis" hit Wall Street. That's because the public , or so the MSM would have you believe, blames the Republicans for this mess. Never mind the fact that there has been a Democratic Congress for the last two years that hasn't done a thing despite warnings from EVERYONE. Still, because the MSM says it's the Republicans fault, it is. The dirty little secret is that the Dem's knew this was coming, could have stopped it (since they now have the power) but chose to do nothing. Why? Because they knew that they could count on their buddies in the MSM to spin this to look like a Republican mess and in so doing win the White House for Obama and their party. Their goal is POWER and more of it. it's not enough that they have Congress now they want it all. They want to destroy the Republicans and see to it that they never have a chance to take away their power again. They convinced the voters in 2006 that the GOP had lost it's way, which it did, and the people chose to out them back in power. You wanted change? You got it. How do you feel about that change now? Go back and look at what the economy looked like before the 2006 election and what it looks like now. We got change alright and plenty of it. Now look where we are. The next time someone tells you that elections don't matter show them this as an example.

Now the second point: the youth vote. This year, more than ever the youth is energized to vote and a large majority of them plan to vote for Obama. Why? Well they can't tell you why but all of their friends are voting for him and he is the first African American to reach these heights so of course they are voting for him. The cult of personality of the Obamessiah has been completed. He is going to solve all of our problems and the Earth will start to cool and our enemies will bring us flowers and, and, and.... it makes sens though that the youth would like him because they don't understand what his message brings with it. They don't understand Socialism because they have never seen it before. They don't remember the fall of the Berlin Wall or the Cold War or Soviet aggression around the globe. You see, they have always been given whatever they wanted and have not had to work for it or earn it. If they need a car mom and dad will get that for them. If they need money mom and dad will get that for them. Need to come back home and live with us after college? No problem. They are used to getting what they want because parents became their friends and made sure they would have it. So when the Obamessiah comes along and tells them that they will get more money for college, free health care, etc they buy into it because they have seen this before and are familiar with it. What they don't realize is that what he is really proposing brings us one step closer to socialism than ever before. He wants the Federal Government to take care of you "from cradle to grave" so everyone will have the same things in life. These ideas have been seeping into our educational system by the same 60's radicals that now are teachers and professors of these kids and they have been warming these eggs for years. They new that if they kept them warm and cozy and made sure that the environment was just right, eventually they would hatch. Well, the eggs are ready and they are preparing to hatch. The scary thing is that when they do they will be more radical and socialistic in their thinking than at any time in history and they will be running this country.

Behind The Mask

I have already gone on record as saying that I think John McCain will win in the November election and I have not changed my mind. I mean the fact is in most major polls Obama only has a 4-5 point lead. If you add in the margin for error that's a tie! If, as the media claims, things are SOOOOOO bad and the American people are so disgusted with the direction of the country, then why is this race so close. Obama speaks of change and heading in a new direction. If most people were truly buying that he would be running away with this thing...he is not. That leads me to believe that his support is not as strong as some might think and therefore he is vulnerable.
In light of this however, his demeanor has not changed since he was running for the nomination in the Primaries. Obama struts around like he has this thing in the bag and that John McCain is the underdog. Once the debates start he is going to get a taste of reality. Off script Obama is a terrible speaker. When he is reading a teleprompter he is quite eloquent though. The debates will show this weakness and the whole world will be watching. McCain on the other hand has been a U.S. Senator for decades and he is used to debating and giving speeches when it counts. I predict a big win for McCain in the debates. The problem is going to become when Obama is actually going to have to present to the people who he really is. As of now, nobody knows who this guy is or what he stands for. He has shown the remarkable ability to be on ALL sides of any issue at the same time! He said the Surge did not work, now he says id probably did. He said that he would take public financing for his campaign, he opted against it. He said he wants to pull out of Iraq immediately, now he says we may have to "keep some troops there for a while". In 2004, when John Kerry started to change his position he was called a flip-flopper and it cost him the election. Obama is flipping and flopping daily and the media won't cover it. They have their man and they plan to make him President.
At some point, very soon I think, the truth will be revealed and people will begin to see who Obama really is. That is the point that he will start to lose support. The media will do everything in it's power to minimize anything that will make him look bad while at the same time using their power to "crown him king". Just look at the coverage he is getting on his "magical mystery tour" of Europe and the Middle East. The People will ultimately choose who will lead this country in these times of crisis both here and abroad and I am confident that they will choose John McCain. But in politics as in life...anything can happen!
